Text:   Tilmer\MADISON - Tilmer Tollefson, age 90, passed away on Wednesday,May 28, 2008, surrounded by his family at the HospiceCare Center, Fitchburg.Tim, the youngest of eight children, was born on the family farm inCashton, on March 6, 1918, to Soren and Tillie (Running) Tollefson.Tim was a very proud veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Armyas a marksman and tank driver. Tim was also proud of his Norwegian heritage.He married the love of his life, Bernice Ruhland on Nov. 1, 1954. Shepreceded him in death on her 70th birthday, July 15, 2000. Tim enjoyedthe simple things in life such as spending time with his family at theVilas Park Zoo, tinkering on cars, gardening, country music, bacon andeggs, and especially looked forward to family summer driving vacationsthroughout the U.S., stopping for picnic lunches. Up until two weeksago he enjoyed his weekly Tuesday bus excursions to the Ho-Chunk Casino.In his last days he reminded us many times to be sure to tell his son-in-law , Ed, 'He is a good guy' for taking him back and forth to thebus every Tuesday for many years and stopping at KFC for him on the way home. Tim believed in hard work and ambition! He was a truck driver hauling produce and eggs and enjoyed talking to the farmers on his route.He was especially proud of his children and grandchildren as they areof him He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, George,Edwin, Tollef, Martin, Nora, Myrtle, and Lillian; his wife, Bernice;his son, David at birth; his son, Sgt. 1st Class Richard; and beloveddogs, Cream Puff and Toto. Tim is survived by his daughter, Carol (Ed)Gray of Oregon; son, Tim (Lisa) Tollefson of Milton; grandchildren,Justin (Maria) Gray of Madison, Ashley Gray of Milwaukee, and Aftonand Brynn Tollefson of Milton; and life long friends, George and DeloresLeis of Cashton. The family would like to thank Dr. Zorba Paster, JackieRobinson from Greenwood Apartments in Oregon and the Ellen and PeterJohnson HospiceCare Center for taking such good care of our dad Fullmilitary honor services were held privately at Resurrection Mausoleum,Madison. We' ll love you forever, we' ll like youfor always, as long as we' re living our father you' llbe. Thank you Dad, till we meet you and mom again
